Tridax procumbens Linn. is a medicinal plant traditionally used in folk medicine to treat various conditions such as skin infections, wounds, fever and inflammation. Its therapeutic potential is attributed to a rich diversity of bioactive compounds present within the plant. This review aims to provide an in-depth understanding of T. procumbens by analysing literature from databases like PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, including studies published until 2025. Both in vitro and in vivo studies have explored the therapeutic properties of different parts of T. procumbens, revealing its wide spectrum of pharmacological activities. These include analgesic, antidiabetic, antioxidant, anti-urothelic, cardioprotective, larvicidal, wound healing, reproductive, anthelmintic, anti-ulcer, hepatoprotective, antimicrobial, hypolipidemic, anticancer, anti-inflammatory effects. Additionally, this review summarizes the key phytochemicals found in T. procumbens, including flavonoids, alkaloids, essential oils, tannins, carotenoids, and saponins. The analysis highlights the abundance of these bioactive compounds in T. procumbens, underscoring its substantial pharmacological potential. Given its diverse therapeutic properties, the plant shows promise for development in various sectors, including drug discovery, industrial applications, and the medicinal and commercial industries.
